Bootimg or similar support in current kernels?

Is there support for bootimage or similar utilities
(linux boot linux) in the recent kernels? If not
are there updated patches? I want to play with this
stuff and maybe make something usefull of it but I
dont see any work on bootimg,lobos,monte, etc past
april...
