That was a zImage. Booting a bzImage (something I've never needed to
do before because I had a slimmed down kernel) works fine.
Sigh.

Maybe we should just remove zImage? Or at least put in a better trap
for kernels which are too large (assuming this wasn't just a plain bug
that got introduced recently).
