Well, I dd'ed the 2.2.17pre13 kernel with the setup.S patch onto a floppy
and tried it nothing different happened. I still got the

    Loading.............................................
      (2 minute, 15 second pause)
    Uncompressiing Linux...

    invalid compressed format (err=2)
          
    -- System halted

I'll try it again with a 2.4 kernel and try sticking it directly on the new
hard drive once I find all the cables to hook an IDE drive to my system.
