gcc 2.95.2 compiles the 2.2.x kernel ok. (2.2.14 to 2.2.16)
I personally use it for my home systems for moth and it has yet to fail on
me.
If I recall correctly SuSE Linux 6.4 and FreeBSD 4.0 uses 2.95.2 also.
