I've also seen messed up files (even totally innocent bystanders AFAICT)
with ext2 on Red Hat 6.9.5 and linux-2.4.0-test7, P3/600. Also broken
group descriptors, files with weird modes, you name it. Building a kernel
there sometimes gives massive fallout from fsck(8).
