        Hello Keith , If you would please add this to the link for those
        with this trouble . It appeasr to be a difficulty in Slackware
        8.0-8.1 distributions . Some application installs a bad libbdf*
        or libiberty* during the install of the distribution . This can
        be easily remidied , Re install the binutils . Hth , JimL
        ie:
        # Note: Must be root to do this
        #Slackware: In my case the vars are:
        VER="2.12.90.0.9"
        num="1"

        installpkg ${PATH}/binutils-${VER}-i386-${num}.tgz
