Re: Reproducible SCSI Error with Adaptec 7902

Hi Justin,

First thanks for the responces and thanks for the work on the SCSI
driver we use the Adaptec drivers a lot in our work.

I have compiled and installed the AIC79XX 1.3.4 driver from your
web site to run with the stock Redhat kernel version 2.4.18-24.7.xsmp.
I have just installed the SCSI module aic79xx.o

This has improved things a lot. The drive no longer locks up. However,
I now get SCSI error messages in /var/log/messages every so often,
probably matching the same period as when the drive used to lock up.
I assume that, whatever the fault, the driver is now handling the error
better.

1. Would it be possible for you to look at the error message to see
what it is related to.
2. Would it be possible to determine what may have locked up the drive
with the previous SCSI driver. I could feed this back to Seagate.

I enclose a portion of /var/log/messages below.

Cheers

Terry
