Kernel list menebers,

I have hade a problem with the ide-scsi driver - all kernel updates since
2.4.21 that is with 2.4.21 & 2.4.22-pre1 & 2.4.22-pre2 have not enable me to
mount my cdrom / writer.

The var/log/messages produce th error messages

Jul 2 21:35:48 capulet kernel: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0,
id 0, lun 0
Jul 2 21:35:48 capulet kernel: sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 20x/40x writer cd/rw
xa/form2 cdda tray
Jul 2 21:35:48 capulet kernel: Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12
Jul 2 21:36:18 capulet kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid
13, scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 0x28 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 01 00
Jul 2 21:36:18 capulet kernel: hdc: lost interrupt
Jul 2 21:36:18 capulet kernel: ide-scsi: The scsi wants to send us more data
than expected - discarding data
Jul 2 21:36:18 capulet kernel: ide-scsi: [[ 28 0 0 0 0 10 0 0 1 0 0 0 ]
Jul 2 21:36:18 capulet kernel: ]
Jul 2 21:36:18 capulet kernel: ide-scsi: expected 2048 got 4096 limit 2048

The last message repeats very rapidly and effectivly crashes the system.

When I have enabled the scsi extra reporting options the same error occurs on
boot.

under 2.4.20 the working ata-scsi driver produces -

Jul 3 08:09:14 capulet kernel: SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00
Jul 3 08:09:14 capulet kernel: scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE
ATAPI devices
Jul 3 08:09:14 capulet kernel: Vendor: SONY Model: CD-RW CRX175E
Rev: 1.1b
Jul 3 08:09:14 capulet kernel: Type: CD-ROM
ANSI SCSI revision: 02

I have attached my config listing

Any suggestion would be helpful.

regards

David wilson
