Acer TM 240

I have an Acer TM 240 laptop with a synaptics touch pad, when I use any
of the 2.6.x kernels the mouse jump randomly all over the screen. This
happens with or with out the synaptics drivers for X.  I also lose tap
click but that could just how it's configured.  Please help.
