Kernel crashes with Linux version 2.4.20-31.9 RedHat 9 distro....

These crashes have occured on a custom built
(hardware) AMD based system running redhat 9. The
basic architecture is :

The harddisk is a Quantum Bigfoot IDE.

I ran the oops report through ksymoops :

# ksymoops < /var/log/messages > textfilename.txt

I am attaching the output. I am concerned as to
whether the error resulting in the crash is due to
hardware failure, or miscommunication with an
"overbloated" kernel or a bug in this kernel release.
