Well, I'm not an expert, but I think I understand your argumentation.
However, the problem is that resume _works_ without the patch
and doesn't work with it, which is a regression. (BTW, without
the patch the wall clock is evidently correct after resume.)

Frankly I don't know who should fix the broken code, but my
understanding has always been that if someone's patch
introduces a regression, he/she ough to change the patch
so that it does not happen.
