You need to use the initrd. See the man pages for update-initramfs and maybe mkinitramfs. The initrd is where all the drivers get loaded and hardware is detected in an Ubuntu system. It is required for root to be on LVM.

So, I suppose that's the center of the problem, but actually, I don't know how to solve it.
