yes, we are aware of this problem. Our plan is to introduce alloc_netdev() for ctc-devices as described in Documentation/networking/netdevices.txt.

This seems to be related to the new network namespace code by Eric
Biederman (CCed). Can you try the following (untested) patch? I also
