I've put out a 1.3.17 kernel, that should fix at least to most glaring
problems with unix domain sockets. It's available on the normal ftp
sites, and I'd strongly suggest anybody using 1.3.16 would upgrade (with
plain 1.3.16 your local X sockets can freeze up, and there are various
problems with "syslogd" etc).

The 1.3.17 patches also make /proc/net more modular, and change most of
the network drivers into modules. This is actually the bulk of the
patches (from Matti Aarnio).
