More on 1.3.30 SCSI+CDROM lockups

Hmm - this lockup of the 1.3.30 SCSI CD-ROM appears to be a recurring
phenomenon. This time, only processes accessing the CD-ROM died; I
could still run commands in other VT's. Also, the following appeared
in my syslog:

Sep 28 15:57:21 osiris kernel: scsi0 channel 0 : resetting for second half of retries.

X was not running, so that is one less thing to worry about.
'shutdown -r now' died after sending a KILL signal to the active
processes.
