I don't know if this is an appropriate question. Since the only variable is
the kernel I thought I would give it a try. I have X312 with S3 server
running very well on kernel 1.3.20. Each recent kernel results in X failing
(strace shows locks at the point where the socket is connected) with the
message(s) as follows:
----
TRANS(SocketUNIXConnect) () can't connect: errno = 111
giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.
----
Again with kernel 1.3.20 no problem. The unix socket files appear exactly
the same for both (all) kernels. The following is a ls -la of those files.
from 1.3.20
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 11 Oct 30 13:22 .X0-lock
.X11-unix:
total 3
drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 1024 Oct 30 13:22 ./
drwxrwxrwx 6 root root 2048 Oct 30 14:09 ../
srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Oct 30 13:22 X0=
from 1.3.37
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 11 Oct 30 14:29 .X0-lock
.X11-unix:
total 3
drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 1024 Oct 30 14:29 ./
drwxrwxrwx 5 root root 2048 Oct 30 14:31 ../
srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Oct 30 14:29 X0=
Thanks for reading. Any suggestions?
