green modes=stops clock

Recently I turned on the green CPU modes for my P90 system. I set the
suspend and sleep modes to less than half an hour. I let my system run
all night as usual, and when I got back to my machine I noticed that
xclock was almost 12 hours slow!

At first I thought this was a 1.3.42 problem, and then I realized that I
had enabled the CPU suspend modes. Obviously Linux can't deal with that
very well.

Is there any work being done on Power Management for Linux? Seems like
such a powerful OS should have 'green' features in it.
