Indeed. I use cvs for exactly this reason --- patches get integrated
slowly into the mainline kernel, and cvs lets me keep perfect track of
my own development branches versus the official kernel. It also
automates the merging of patches into different development branches
and the creation of diffs between any two branches. It's a very
powerful tool and makes the management of diverse development branches
painless.
