If it's to the Linux kernel, try looking at the Kernel-HOWTO, and the
best thing is, you proberbly already have it, if you installed the f disk
set (slackware), it'll be in /usr/doc/faq/howto/. Check the faq's and
howto's there (/usr/doc/faq/*) for relavent info before posting
questions, you'll proberbly find the answer there. Finally, you can look
in man pages (as rudely already pointed out), man patch (diff dosen't
have a man page, but it's in the texinfo thingy), info diff.
