Hi Raul,

The main objective when coming up with this proposal was
- it is easy to generate legal file-contents
- there is plenty of room for possible extension
- backward compatibility with existing entries in /proc, wherever
possible.

Admittedly, this makes parsing the files a little more difficult. As
this has to be done by user level programs only (I do not think, that
the kernel has to do any parsing of its own files), this should not be
that much of a problem. I am currently not aware of programs that are
*this* timing critical when accessing files in the /proc
hierarchy. These programs can always resort to flex/yacc which makes
parsing very straight-forward and is usually quite fast.

Please do tell me, if my assumptions are wrong and make appropriate
suggestions for improvements if possible.

Markus
