Hmm, what about the IDE driver code, they could be modulerised (sp?),
especally the stuff like cd-rom/tape support (the common cd-rom/tape atapi
stuff is seperated). I can think of many reasons for this, including
allowing the distribution makers to use the new bzImage format to support
(E)IDE only/SCSI only/Mixed SCSI and (E)IDE, insted of having to compile
it in, or distribute 2 bzImages (one with (E)IDE, one without). Annother
place would be to support remote booting of mixtures of diskless, and
(E)IDE disked stations (where memory will proberbly be tight). Or even if
you boot from SCSI, and only have MS-WAISTOFSPACEDOS/MS-Windoze on the
(E)IDE disks. I'm waffleing, I'll stop now ;)
