No. I general we consider /etc to be a local issue. I have to admit
though, that I *have* been working on a suggestion for a common
/etc-structure. Unfortunately I haven't had the guts to post it
yet (I haven't got time to enter yet-another-major-flamewar at
present).

I have been using /etc/modules.conf for the configuration file ever
since the modutils were introduced (Can't help it: I was compiled
using -pendantic :-).
