Arrgh..
I just updated my procps to 0.99 and now it works.

The latest and greatest RedHat 3.0.3 has old procps and additionally
when trying to update with the package from contrib it complains that
it conflicts with files from psmisc-11-2. Of course there is no new
psmisc anywhere. O'well rpm -U --force works..

Sorry.. This not a kernel issue at all, my fingers move faster than
my brain ..
