There are still some problems :-(. General Protection is still
around (system up about 3 hours):
Apr 4 13:41:29 deanna kernel: kfree of non-kmalloced memory: 008c4010, next= 014cc000, order=38
Apr 4 13:43:46 deanna kernel: kfree of non-kmalloced memory: 00d84010, next= 00d18000, order=36
Apr 4 13:43:46 deanna kernel: kfree of non-kmalloced memory: 00d84df4, next= 00d18000, order=36
Apr 4 13:43:46 deanna kernel: kfree of non-kmalloced memory: 00d84408, next= 00d18000, order=36
Apr 4 14:04:58 deanna kernel: general protection: 0000
Apr 4 14:04:58 deanna kernel: CPU: 0
Apr 4 14:04:58 deanna kernel: EIP: 0010:[wake_up_interruptible+34/216]
Apr 4 14:04:58 deanna kernel: EFLAGS: 00010202
Apr 4 14:04:58 deanna kernel: eax: 01b3e6d4 ebx: 01584000 ecx: 0000014c edx: 7273752f

At this point the system completely locked up -- X Server frozen, no
response on either network.

I've gotten these error messages since rebooting:
Apr 4 15:11:30 deanna kernel: kfree of non-kmalloced memory: 010c49fc, next= 00323000, order=36
Apr 4 15:33:43 deanna kernel: Socket destroy delayed (r=0 w=804)
Apr 4 15:34:04 deanna last message repeated 3 times
Apr 4 16:00:20 deanna kernel: Socket destroy delayed (r=0 w=252)
Apr 4 16:01:00 deanna last message repeated 4 times
Apr 4 16:02:00 deanna last message repeated 6 times
Apr 4 16:03:00 deanna last message repeated 6 times
Apr 4 16:04:00 deanna last message repeated 6 times
Apr 4 16:05:00 deanna last message repeated 6 times
Apr 4 16:06:00 deanna last message repeated 6 times
Apr 4 16:06:10 deanna kernel: Socket destroy delayed (r=0 w=252)
Apr 4 16:39:32 deanna kernel: kfree of non-kmalloced memory: 01e4440c, next= 01b57000, order=37

[The Socket destroy delayed messages stopped at 16:06:10].

As far as I can tell there was no interactive activity going on at the
time of the ``kfree'' messages.

The first machine I booted to 1.3.84 has only normal messages in the
system logs, and an uptime of about 7 hours.

My problem machine deanna, has two ethernet cards, and by far suffers
the most instability, it also gets the hardest usage. But it was fine
under much heavier usage with the 1.2 series of kernels.
