tty1 weirdness

Ok, this might be completely off-topic and I might
be completely ignorant for not knowing the answer/cause for this:

For a while now, my 1st virtual Terminal (i.e. ALT-F1...) is
completely screwed up. I try to edit a file with an editor,
and everything gets misplaced as soon as I start typing,
using the uparrow in tcsh does the same thing. I was just
curious, because this started happening with one of
the latest kernels (might be coincidence though).
Does anybody else have this problem or know what do
do about it? (it's driving me nuts). Please feel
free to send any flames and hints to me personally.

Something on-topic about ppp:

Telnetting to Solaris hosts did get faster (I specifically
tried it, what a difference ('88 vs. '84) ;)
The other thing (which should probably go to linux-ppp
anyways) is that load balancing is screwed up. I ftp
a file on one hand, and have a telnet session open
on the other. The telnet session becomes so incredibly
slow...it's not even funny anymore.

Well, Laters,
