Kernel panic in pre2.0.11

I got the following kernel panic with linux pre2.0.11:

Kernel panic: Mitsumi CD-ROM: block not locked

It happened when i was doing:

tar tzvf GravityWars1.1.tar.gz

on the 4th CD of Infomagic April 96 and appears to be reproducible.

Doesn't appear to happen with older kernels.

mcdx and isofs are loaded as modules.
