This means that the server returned the SYSTEM_ERR error. The only
occasion on which the NFS server itself generates this error is when
for some reason, sending the reply to the client fails. I don't know
if the RPC lib generates this error on its own.

I'm in a hurry right now, but I'll get in touch with you Monday so we
can sort out how this might happen.
