I have a LAN attached to a PPP link to the Internet via a gateway
(masquerading) machine. When I would do 'route add -net 127.0.0.0' when
the gateway was not connected, it would return an error message. I messed
around a bit with it, and found that it was easiest to simply specify the
interface in the route command, say
route add -net 127.0.0.0 lo
and so forth.
No more problems with *that*... now just the masquerading and FTP... eck.
