ext2 inode o-o-bound prob aft crash xemacs aft susp during gnus mode

I had xemacs -f gnus suspended, did ftp, su, xemacs, tcl stuff,
restarted another application a few times, then came back to the
shell with xemacs in it and did fg (foreground), and it gave
segmentation violation as it often does. I started another,
and then a bit later started getting lots of these:
