Radical proposal (Was Re: Undelete in user space)

A radical idea:

We have more than one version of several utilities.

Howsabout a version of "rm" which moves a file to a .wastebasket directory,
combined with a daemon to poll the fs for % usage and unlink the old
stuff and, of course, an undelete facility.

rm -f would unlink the file.

I propose this idea not because I think it is a good one.

I propose this idea to show that there are a number of ways to implement
this idea *without* *involving* *the* *kernel*.

Could this _please_ be moved to another list? If you really want to have
an undelete function, snarf majordomo from ftp://ftp.greatcircle.com,
start a list about the idea, and get it off of the kernel developers' list.

Most people who read this list check c.o.l.a., too, so we will be sure to
check it out when you're done.
