I ignored this in the past, but now it want to know why I get this error on bootup:

Jul 7 13:18:47 eyal kernel: klogd 1.3-0, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Jul 7 13:18:48 eyal kernel: Cannot find map file.

I have /System.map and it is the correct one (well, a copy of the one built with the
kernel). This is an up to date system (redhat april/96) with kernels as late as
2.0.3. strace of klogd shows that it opens all three possible map files, finds and
reads the second (/System.map) and third (/usr/src/linux/System.map) but then
announces the above message.

klogd is 1.3-0.
