While this would be very nice, I would also ask that an ASCII volume
label also be added. This could also be used as information that a
supermount program could use to figure out where things are.

The main advantage to an ASCII volume label is that other
filesystems
other than ext2 support this concept (DOS, iso9660, and probably a few
others).
