kerneld sometimes fails to load psaux module.

The problem is: sometimes kerneld does not load the psaux module
because it tries to load char-major-10-1 and this is not mapped in my
/etc/conf.modules. This would be not a big deal but the interesting
thing is: if I retry then it loads apparently as char-major-10 (that is
without the number appended) and that matches my mapping in my
conf.modules.

So why is it changing its name? I am still using modules-1.3.57
