This got me thinking and I thought it might be a good idea to do a similar
thing for linux-kernel, I suggest that it include at least the following:
The current linux-kernel FAQ
Pointer to the Kernel Victims Page
Details on the "traps" on kernel upgrades
libc versions, gcc, make problem, ps problem,....
I'd offer to run this (since it is quite easy using procmail and formail)
but my machine is only connected for 10mins each day which may not be
suitable due to the 1 day turnaround time on each message.
I know this sort of thing can be done with the majordomo subscription but
there are lots of people reading/posting to linux-kernel who aren't on the
vger list directly, so something external is required.
I know this isn't Kernel Development related but it might help to cut out
a wee bit of the spam and get newbies more informed.
Example of who easy it is to do with procmail:

It could be made much more complex, like including features for expiring
the post time so that if people don't post for say 6months then on next
posting the get the new newbie stuff.
Just a thought........ (I would have set followups to the linux-offtopic
place but I don't remember it's address :-))
