msdos fs + ram disk?

I think I've discovered a fairly annoying bug in the msdos fs.

If I write an msdos image (such as a Red Hat boot disk image) to the ram disk
and then try to mount it, the contents of the ram disk are lost. The mount
succeeds, but the mounted directory is empty afterwards, and after unmounting,
the ram drive has been zeroed.

I've tried this on 2.0.17 and 2.0.20. I've tried it both on a freshly
installed Red Hat 3.03 system + all latest rpm's, as well as a fairly old
slackware system, so if it is a bug in mount, it has been there forever and
is still there.

Mounting minix and ext2 filesystems on the ram disk works fine.
