Console doesn't scroll

I recently upgraded my video card to a Trident 9440 PCI. After that, when I
change the console size (with either resizecons or SVGAtext, or videomode at
bootup), it never scrolls. The only way to see what changed is to switch to
another screen (alt-F2, etc), and switch back.

Same with 2.0.x and 2.1.x.

Any ideas? Or suggestions where to look?
