serial problems

After recieving some friendly advice here is more information on my
problem

serial devices

cua0 0x3f8 irq 4
cua1 0x2f8 irq 3

my problem is that I can only dial out with cua0.. if I use cua1 I get no
response from the modem (in minicom) when i try to use chat
I get something like

expect("\rOK\r")
alarm

I have a trace of both minicom runs if they will help
