Problems with tar...

i guess that this question not is for this group.

Well. I have (past tense) 47% of my hard disk free. But i try to upload
from diskettes one file. So i did:

tar xvfM /dev/fd0 /home/pruebas/prueba

i upload two diskettes but i did not see the name of the file that i
upload. Give ^C and abort the tar. I did df, and saw that my free sapce in
hard disk is %50. I lost 3%. Because, i can see nothing that the file that
i upload.

You can tell me what did tar? Where put it the information? How i can
recover my %3 lost?
