Static binaries...

I've just upgraded to 5.4.13, however, it seems gcc compiles only
static binaries. I haven't tried 5.4.12 for compilation. But I'm sure
it was ok around 5.4.10 or 11. I'm using ld.so-1.8.5 however.

Am I the odd one out there? Also I've strip the libc, if it means
anything special...
