make oldconfig peeve

An extremely annoying peeve of mine is that 'make oldconfig' is not
completely automated in that it stops at the sound configuration's
'configure' program.
Do you think the oldconfig cannot perhaps be passed to this program
so that it will use /etc/soundconf if it exists?
