I am having problems getting a kernel to boot a machine with a buslogic
BT-956C scsi controller and two seagate 4G drives (ST15230W). A FreeBSD kernel
boots it fine, and I would like to change this server over to Linux
pronto. Please help me get rid of FreeBSD.

I have tried nearly all the scsi 2.0.0 kernels from the slackware 3.1 issue.
And I compiled my own 2.0.25 kernel. The results are the same ..

If the kernel (scsi.s, buslogic.s) contains the buslogic driver, it hits an
ooops in the boot sequence as soon as it tries to mount the disks. Makes no
difference if I avoid the autoprobe with commandline boot parameters or not.
If the kernel does not contain the bootlogic driver (aha152x.s, ...) it boots
fine and reports 0 scsi luns. No disks.

Salient details. The machine has two 3c509 etehrnet cards and an EIDE cdrom.
The buslogic controller is on io=0x330 and IRQ 11, it has scsi ID 7. The bios
(buslogic?) has it set to level triggering. I have 64M of memory. It makes no
difference if I use mem=32M or something like that. Oh yes. There is also a
soundblaster card, but I am not using it for the moment. Hmm ... (I have not
used a kernel with any sound support, but a SB should like to run on 11. Nah.
couldn't be.)

Is there anything about this setup that is known to be bad? I am particularly
worried by the size of the two disks. I have been adding the "extended"
option to the command line for the keenrl - no difference (bootlogic=...1).
Is 2x4G outside of the normal range? Can anyone give me a boot line that is
known to work?

Please help me convert this server to linux! We need this for the courses next
week and Life will not be worth living with a lab full of linux clients,
two FreeBsd servers pretending to be firewalls and talking to solaris and
linux and freebsd over a 64K landlink (OK - I nearly broke down and begged :).
