Hunting a 2.x.* bug / where's limitpatch.pl?

A weird bug(?) has been bothering me since 2.0.1 ...
sound gets screwed up (slightly) in playmidi -g with some .mids ...
AND the bug seems to have nothing to do with sound driver (have tried
2.0.0 sound driver in 2.x.xx and backwards)

Any hints how to hunt down the bug? I'd guess it might be interrupt / dma
handlers...

So where's limitpatch.pl I heard about? it might be useful ;)
