A nice feature would be the possibility to enter "make modules_install"
from a read-only NFS-mounted volume (kernel compiled on another
machine). Two changes need to be made:

* In $TOPLEVEL/Makefile: move .allmods and .misc to /tmp (possibly
include the PID in the filename to avoid conflicts)

* In $TOPLEVEL/drivers/sound/Makefile: change the modules rule to:

PDWN=$(shell $(CONFIG_SHELL) $(TOPDIR)/scripts/pathdown.sh)
modules: local.h sound.o
cd $$TOPDIR/modules ; ln -sf ../$(PDWN)/sound.o .
