Process Queues - newbie

First of all, yes I am a newbie. I am reading BSD 4.4 Imp and Dsg, and have
started studying the code in linux/kernel and related header and asm files.

I am particularly looking at process scheduling. My question is more
of a check to make sure I have some sort of clue, and to get a better
understanding of why it is so...

It appears to me that Linux does not use a array of queues for the runnable
or for the waiting process. Is this correct, if so what benifits does this
give?
