rx buffer size

Im running squid. And have som problems with change the rx buffer
size. I works with an older system but not with the new one.
(kernel 2.1.15 and libc 5.4.18) The kernel loggs:

Dec 22 02:59:46 pescadero kernel: sendmsg: copy < 0

And my squid dies. Any idea ? It it the kernel or libc that is
fail ?
