Linux kernel 2.1.17 compiles! :-)

Ok.. Perhaps I should have RTFM'ed a little bit better.

After upgrading binutils, the compile worked up to the PCI bios part. At
that point, enabling the PCI support in hte kernel (after reading that
some other people had problems with that) made the compile go flawlessly.

I feel as if I've wasted your time, since it was a rather trivial problem.
