Booting ramdisk in 2.0.27

OK, I bit the bullet and upgraded to 2.0.27 from 2.0.23 yesterday, thereby
causing the release of 2.0.28. :) I require booting to a ramdisk to
start the system. Perhaps I will move to initrd, but I have a more
pressing need, getting the system up, period.

Something changed in 2.0.27 from 2.0.23 in the boot sequence, the
following request followed by an error message is given:

VFS: Insert root floppy disk to be loaded into ramdisk and press ENTER
VFS: Disk change detected.... yada yada
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid ramdisk image starting at 1500

OK, can this final line be explained? There is no note in
Documentation/Changes that documents this, and it didn't seem to be an
issue with 2.0.23.

Note that after this message is:

JAVA Binary support...
VFS: Insert root floppy and press ENTER
VFS: mounted root...

I believe the second line above is what I usually saw, and this RAMDISK:
line appears to be new.
