2.0.28, "Link is down" still trashes machine.

I've mentioned this earlier, and got a reply that I should use
a newer driver. But it seems the bug is still present. I am using
2.0.28.

Using an HP 100VG card, if the link is down, I will get spammed
with messages telling me the link is down. Ctrl-alt-del will not
respond anymore and you're left with turning the machine off (Or
to fix the other end of the network cable ;)
