Linux-2.1.22 or lilo?

I installed a new BusLogic SCSI Controller. It seems to work excellent.
All of the SCSI problems I had are now gone. Great!
But....
Now another problem just started. Something very bad is happening to
my network connectivity. Attempting to log in to my own system using
rlogin rsh or telnet after the system has been up for about 24 hours
has become impossible. I can ping the node and I can finger it. However,
rlogin reports "endpoint disconnected" and sometimes "connection reset by
peer". Telnet reports "connection refused".

I can still log in locally and everything seems quiet. Top shows no
activity, there is plenty of RAM and all the network daemons are running.

netstat -c shows no network activity.
cat /proc/net/arp shows a few entries from my name server and the
hosts that tried to log in (normal).

But .... cat /proc/net/rt_cache >/tmp/xxx.xxx creates a file that is
over 330,000 bytes in length! with mostly the same entries like:

Iface Destination Gateway Flags RefCnt Use Metric Source MTU Window IRTT TOS HHRef HHUptod SpecDst Hash
eth0 EC28B2CC EC28B2CC 0 1 8 0 E028B2CC 1500 0 300 00 2 1 E028B2CC 1D
eth0 FF2FB2CC FF2FB2CC 94011000 0 1 0 C028B2CC 1500 0 300 00 -1 0 E028B2CC 38
eth0 FF2FB2CC FF2FB2CC 94011000 0 1 0 C429B2CC 1500 0 300 00 -1 0 E028B2CC 3D

[SNIPPED THOUSANDS OF LINES!!!]

I would guess that something here should be expiring and it isn't, so the
cache gets full. Note that the destination is a Gateway (correct), but maybe
something wasn't well tested under these conditions because destinations
are usually hosts..... Maybe this makes a difference about cache expiration
which I don't think it should.

I haven't a clue why this would start after I installed a new SCSI
controller.
