Anyway, ifconfig doesn't seem to think it is in promiscuous mode:

In addition, tcpdump only shows only broadcast traffic and legitimate
traffic to and from my machine.
Not to be stating the obvious, but tcpdump puts the card into
promiscuous mode when you run it. Or are you snooping the net on a
seperate interface and/or machine?
